Welcome to the Weston School District Referendum webpage! Our District is very fortunate to have a community that supports the educational process and has a vested interest in our students' future. This is evident through the non-recurring operational referendums that have passed since 2008. Each year these funds have maintained the District's daily operations, including academic instruction, student assistance, staffing, facility maintenance, and various improvement projects. Without this funding, it would be difficult to continue to provide a great educational environment with dedicated and professional instructional staff.
Following the 2019-20 school year, the District's operating referendum ended. In the meantime, the District has been relying on the fund balance to maintain operations. Due to the unsustainable nature of this process, the District has reached a point where passing another $975,000 non-recurring operational referendum is necessary to maintain current programs and services for the next four years.
The District has identified three priorities as part of a long-range facility plan to meet the needs of our students:
-
Improving academic achievement
-
Funding quality educational programs
-
Addressing facility concerns
As the District and Board finalize a plan that addresses these priorities, we want to gather the community's input. The Board has partnered with School Perceptions LLC to conduct a community survey to collect this feedback. Final survey results will be reported in January and made available on this webpage. This collected input will be a valuable resource as we consider an operational referendum and explore the potential for a capital referendum for April 2021.
As a District, we remain committed to fulfilling our mission of enabling all students to reach their full potential through a safe, responsible, and respectful learning community. This webpage is designed so the community can follow our progress throughout this process. We will continue to update this webpage as additional information becomes available. We urge you to review the information and contact the District office with any questions.
Where can I learn more?
As the District and Board develop plans for maintaining operations and future improvements, we are interested in sharing this information with the community. Weston School District is holding an informational referendum community meeting in the Elementary Gymnasium on:
The community meeting will also be streamed live on the District's YouTube account.
We encourage you to consider attending to learn more about our plan for the District's future.
