Academic and Career Planning And PI-26
Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult and community supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in the PI26 legislation requires public school districts to provide academic and career planning services to students in grades 6 through 12.
The ACP is a 4 part process of KNOW, EXPLORE, PLAN, AND GO which students developed throughout Middle School and High School. At Weston School District, we are proud that we have implemented career planning with students and will continue to do so.
PI-26 is the legislation that requires Academic and Career Planning to take place in all public school in the State of Wisconsin. Each school district must provide evidence of their implementation of PI-26.
In order to be college & career ready, students in grades 6-12 will be creating an Academic & Career Plan. Students will have the opportunities to take coursework and gain experiences that align with their post-secondary plans. These experiences will build credentials that have value for college admissions and future employment.
Weston School District Mission Statement: To enable all students to reach their full potential through a safe, responsible, and respectful learning community.
