Music - Mrs. Tolzmann
Welcome to the Weston Schools Music Department Page! I am Tracey Tolzmann, Director of Music Education at Weston. I am in my 10th year of teaching K-12 Instrumental, Vocal, and General Music at Weston, and in my 23rd year of teaching music. My duties at Weston include K-6 General Music, 5th Grade Beginning Band, MS Band, HS Band, MS Choir, HS Choir, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Solo & Ensemble, Show Choir, Musicals, and Individual & Small Group Instrumental & Vocal Lessons.
I received my Bachelor or Music Education degree from UW-Oshkosh, and graduate studies and certifications from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, WI. I am certified in Instrumental, Vocal, and General Music, Birth to Age 21. I am also a certified instructor of the Kodaly Method of Music Education, and have training in the methods of Conversational Solfege, Gordon, Orff, Dalcroze, and Suzuki.
I. LOVE. MUSIC! How lucky can I be to teach what I love?! My goal is to instill that same love of music to my students, and utilize that love to further understand and appreciate music. My philosophy of music education is that it should start at a very young age - actually, with the birth of the mother (think about that ;-), and quality music education should be accessible and available to all.
Beside teaching music, I devote much time sharing my musical gifts by accompanying and leading music at my church, and providing music for special occasions such as weddings ceremonies. Yes, I am a "wedding singer".
When not immersed in music and teaching, I enjoy long-distance bicycle riding, long walks, nordic and alpine snow skiing, and water skiing with my husband and four boys.
There is never a dull moment in the Weston Music Department. Check our calendar for important concert and performance dates, and check back soon for other important documents and links.
"I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning". Plato
